Dear District Governor A.C.,

I wish you the best on your trip to India.

Last night I had the most special Rotary experience of my life. As you know I have been in communication with District Governor of 7020 Errol Alberga and AG Govind Chulani coordinating a visit while I am in Jamaica. Much to my surprise as I was visiting the Rotary Club of Falmouth, I found that they originally were not going to meet on the 30th dues to the holidays. They decided to meet for my visit. District Governor Errol Alberga drove in from Kingston and Govind Chulani drove from Montego Bay. Clara Linton, club president made the most wonderful cake that one could dream of and Judith, club secretary served us a wonderful meal.

District 7020 has some wonderful projects and Falmouth has been doing excellent work fixing the plumbing in the local school as well as working weekly with the students mentoring and teaching. I also read on the Internet that Falmouth has donated 13 trash receptacles for  Falmouth to help keep the area clean, much like the first Rotary Project of Paul Harris, Rotary’s founder. District 7020 is going to be going to Haiti in April and I am going to get the information on the exact location of Mountain Top Ministries so Errol can research our wheelchair project there. I have cc’d Kathy in this email so she is aware of the wonderful experience the Rotarians of Jamaica have shared, and to let  Errol know our contact in Haiti.

The hospitality in Jamaica is unmatched. Errol is still in the process of visiting 76 clubs in district 7020. And Errol is more geographically challenged that we are in the heart of  USA, Errol’s clubs are in Anguilla, Bahamas, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Haiti, Jamaica, St. Barthelemy, St. Maarten, Turks and Calcos Island and US Virgin Islands.

This year District 7020 is going to have the district conference in Jamaica and Errol has extended you and invitation to com down and join the fun. I told him about your Elvis impersonation and we joked about Errol doing a Bob Marley impersonation. I don’t think it will work out though as Errol only knows one song “One Love” with is Errol’s them for this year.

Well, last night is a “Rotary moment” that stands as my finest. We have great friends in Jamaica!

Yours in Rotary Service,

steve
