ORGAN DONOR
AWARENESS PROJECT
The purpose and objective of this project
is to eliminate the long waiting list and to make organ transplants
affordable to all people, District 6110 will become a test, to see if we
as Rotarians can educate our district to the growing and critical need for
organs and tissue for transplants. It is our hope and intent to start a
grass roots movement night here in District 6110, that will spread into
other Districts and that all the American People will accept organ
donation as a way of life,
How can we as a
District of 77 Rotary Clubs initiate this project?

The
check box for organ donor on drivers licences has proven to be
insufficient. First and foremost, the next of kin are often unaware
of the deceased's wishes during the brief critical time when emotions are
also high. Having previously made the donor's decision known through the
Rotary Organ Donor Awareness Program will reduce the stress of making such
a decision when time is so critical. It is also intended that an organ
donor database will result from this program, providing another new tool
to help assure donor's wishes to help others are fulfilled.
