Hey Everyone!! Hows Life treating ya?? Its been ages since Ive written. Things in Belgium could not be better. Since Christmas I have been on the go Non-Stop. Which is how I like it. I went skiing in Switzerland for the first week of March, Of course I would do somehitng like i did and BREAK MY ELBOW!! I at least got 3 days in of skiing though. And the sad part was it wasnt even while i was skiing. HAHA I fell down the stairs. OH WELL It acually wasnt that bad I only chipped it so they didnt have to put it in a cast or anything, but its still pretty painful. Then i headed off to Holland and Paris with my sister, her boyfriend, my mom, and her brasialian exchange student!! It was a balst. The french is going wonderful and my host family is such a blessing. Really everything is great. This weekend Im off to the orentation for all teh Rotary Outbaounds for next year. Oh i have a really good friend who is acually coming back with me in july and staying at my house for the month. I change familys in about 3 weeks and i know thats gonna be hard leaving this family now because we have gotten so close BUT change is always fun!! Well i better go now Ill talk to yall soon(hopefully)Cheers, SHANNON

Anyways where to start, i dont think i ever wanna come home. i had a rough time with my first host family but i tried my best to have the best time possible which i did, BUT ive changed host familys and things are a million times better. I feel so at home in this house. i have 3 brothers which is defintly a diffrent experince for me (but thats what this is all about) haha and i little sister. we all have so much fun together.
TRAVELING: Its amazing to live in Belgium because its the center of europe and you can travel for so cheap. Since i have updated i have been to the south of France, Irealnd with 2 friends, London to see family, and Paris for the holidays (new years eve) :) In march im going to Switzerland to ski with my host family. My birthday was last friday BIG 17!! and my host mom had a party for me.  The french is going wonderful and so is everything else i know i should make this really long because its been so long but i really do have to go. I promise ill right agian soon. Hope all is well at home!!

Finally another Travelogue...SORRY

Well it has been way too long since I have updated everyone!! Im so sorry but Ive been keeping really busy here in Belgium and thats how I like it. School is going realy good, my teachers work with me on everything and Ive gotten to the point where I am understanding pretty much everything in french without thinking about it. I love the feeling of knowing how much better my french gets day by day. I went to rotary last week and the men all complmented me on how much better my french has gotten since I have seen them last. Man I gave done so much since last time I dont know where to start. My daily activites include swimming, running, riding bike, aerobics, tennis, rock climbing, kanoeing, and of course shopping!! Its crazy... now of course I dont every one of those every day but I do them quite a bit. My host family is still wonderful we get along great. Im counting down the days till we go to the south of France for a week. The last week of Oct. I cant wait. Ive met both of my other host family and they are great, acually I go to school with 3 of the oldest kids from the sencond and 1 girl from the third. They are great too...I just found out in Feb my 2nd family is taking my to the Swiss alps to snowboard... I cant wait!! And Im going to Paris for New Years!!! Thats been my dream for soo long!! I swear I feel like this is all still too good to be true. But I have setteled in really well with lots of help from my host family. There are a few down sides acually only one and thats the weather in Belgium, but I have learned to live with it and discovered that the rain pays off because on those few sunny days its absoulty amazing here. My Rotary club has been great to me, which is really helping also. The friends Ive made are great also. I just really am loving everything bascailly. To the rest of the students I hope your all having the time of your life like me, I know you are!! I would love an email from yall so dont hesitate Ill email yall also. And to everyone else Ill update more often than before. God Bless!!

Wednesday, August 28, 2002 12:52 PM  Bonjour!! Everything is great in Belgium... I start school on Sept. 3. Im really nervous, but I had a meeting today with the director of my school and he is great. My house is wonderful! It has 4 stories, and a huge backyard. Im living in a village called Mettet. It looks like it came straight out of a fairy tale. Only about 2,000 people live here and everyone knows everyone. My father is a very well known doctor in the village(acually he is probably the only one!). My mother is a Phycologist. Im going to my first Rotary meeting on Friday, but I dont give my speech till Sept. 14, which should give me some time to start speaking in French better. Im catching on to French really fast. I love hearing people speak it. Yesterday My sister Julie and I went to Namur(a big city outside of my village) and shopped all day. I had my first Belgium Waffle!! It was amazing. They sell them on the streets. Tomarrow my sisters and I are going to Brussels to spend the day. I cant wait!! My family sure is keeping me busy, but thats how I like it!! Well I have to go help clean up... talk to you soon.
