Hey Everybody,
I am not really sure the last time I e-mailed everyone. So I am not
sure how much information everybody knows.
Well about three weeks ago I changed host-family's. This family has
a grandmother, her daughter that has a daughter as well living in the
house. So I am the man of the house right now. The house is really
nice. It's
two stories, has a swimming pool and two big dogs. One of the dogs
looks exactly my dog Bandido in the States! All the furniture in the
house is really antique. I have a problem with allergies at times. The
house has a nice garden as well. I am liking it as well.
Carnival in Brasil went great. It was defenetly a lot of partying. I
went with ten people in a van and lasted 4 days. Two of the people
were friends from soccer and my friend from Belgium went with me as
well. The eight hour drive to the beach was singing and banging on
drums the whole way there. I, of course didn't the whole time and
slept a little bit so I got the name dromamine (a medicine to help you
sleep). It was also yelling at people in the traffic because everybody
was leaving the city so the traffic was packed. Everyday it was going
to the beach, dance letronica in the road and sing a little bit. Then
you would go home get ready to go out for the night.
During the night we would go out to the streets, dance samba and
letronica. Well, after that you would come home sleep for about 3 or 4
hours and do it all over again. This week has actually been a lot of
partying
because the past two days I have also been at churrascos( brasilian
barbecue).
Soccer right now is not going well at all. I think I tore my ACL so
right now I am just seeing doctors and will start to do therapy. I am
pretty sure it is a torn ACL but I still want to see two other
doctors. My knee feels good right now and I don't have any pain in it,
only popping a little bit. Well, I still go to soccer everyday though
and talk with my friends a little bit. I am doing alright though
because I am still having a good time here. Well I hope everybody is
doing well wherever they are at. Tchau.

Hey Everybody,
Its been a long time since I have sent out e-mails to everybody. The
last two months I have been traveling. I traveled for a month in the
northeast of Brazil. Which was really cool and made a lot of friends
from different countries. This might give me more chances to live or
visit other countries now. I will always remember my Christmas in
Brazil. My Christmas morning here was watching the sun come up while
pushing a land cruiser up a hill(Great culture experience). I went to
a beach city called Cabo Frio for New Years with my friend from
Belgium and his family. On this trip I caught a blow fish and held and
octopus. All the Brazilians thought I was kind of crazy for grabbing
the blowfish. In about five days I travel to a small city called
Caraeva. Its sounds very interesting to go there because it doesn't
have a lot of electricity city and things like this. The city is a
little bit secluded and you have to take a boat to get to it. Also I
am going alone, so its a little bit more exciting. Well, as for
soccer, I really haven't been playing enough. I bring a small ball
with me when I travel but only get to play pick up games with street
kids. I play probably once a week. Its pretty interesting. All you
have to do is bring a ball and people come. I think this next trip is
my last trip because I want to start playing soccer more and work on
my Portuguese. Right now my Poruguese is not to bad. Eu consiguo
conversar mas eu preciso trabalhar com meu vocabulario e sutaci ainda.
I can have conversations with people but I still need to work with my
vocabulary and accent. I can always say what I want to say but I have
to explain things because I don't know enough vocabulary. Well this is
my life pretty much right now. I will send out pictures to everybody
after my trip to Caraeva. Miss everybody and hope life is treating
them well. Tchau.

Hey Everybody,
Well I am doing fine here. I know enough where I am feeling a little
bit more comfortable here. I still don't still understand everything
but I am doing better than most of the Americans are do Tomarrowarow I
leave for Araçatuba for a party called "Vaca Loca." After that I will
be in Belo Horizante for 4 days then I will leave to travel all around
the northeast Brazilazil for one month. I will get a see a lot more of
the culture in Brazil, Beaches, and hopefully many more exciting
things. I got to play soccer with my team yesterday.
They are starting up the season again. i hadn't got to play in 3 weeks
because the team was on vacation. I am leaving right when they start.
It still amazes me how good they are sometimes but I am starting to
adjust I think. Well I can't really think to add anything else right
now. If you have any questions just e-mail me.
Miss everybody and hope everything is going well.
Tchau.

Hey Everybody,
Yesterday I returned from going to the Pantanal and Bonito. Oh man
it was so much fun. I kinda wish I didn't go with so many people but
it was still a blast. In the pantanal I played with aligators, went
fishing for paranas, Horseback riding, trekking, safari and looking
for animals at night with a spotlight. Half of my pictures are with me
playing with the aligators. It so much fun grabbing thier tails and
feeding them fish. The fishing was cool but only got caught three
paranas. I got bit by one of them when I wasn't paying attention to it
because I was trying to feed it to an aligator. So I have a nice
battle mark from the pantanal now. Horseback riding I think was my
favorite but it was with to many people. I think we would have saw
more animals with less people. We still saw a lot of animals. We
crossed a big pond with aligators in it. That was pretty cool because
we could see them swim kinda close. Trekking was pretty much the same
of horseback riding. The safari and night watching had its moments but
you didn't get to see as many animals though I did get to hold an
aligator.
After we left the pantanal we traveled six hours on a bus and went
to Bonito. Bonito means bueatiful in Portuguese. There we went
snorkaling, rafting and hiking into a cave. In bonito they have the
most clear rivers. It was crazy. You were swimming sometimes with fish
that were 2 and half or 3 feet long. Rafting was fun but kinda old
with time but I got to see a monkey and hold parrots afterwards. The
caving was biuetiful becuase it was such a big cavern and the water
was so clear.
On this trip I met a lot of other exchange students that were really
cool. I might go visit a few in their city. I also I am going to the
northeast of brazil in December or January for a whole month. It is
very difficult to decide becuase I have friends from both groups that
are really cool. I also feel a little better about my portuguese
because I got to compare with some other people from the United States
and Australia. Not all these kids that know 2 or 3 langauges before
they came. It still needs a lot of work though. Soccer is good but I
am the scrub on the team. Well I can't think of what else to say. If
anybody has some questions they can e-mail me. Thcau.

Everything is going fine. I am still
playing a lot of soccer and my Portuguese might be getting better.
Sometimes I think it is and sometimes
I don't. I go to the Pantanal next week and I am really excited. I
will e-mail everybody when I get back.

Oi todo mundo,
This is Tim and I am still alive. I have been in Brazil for a month
now. It's crazy that because so much has happened in just this one
month. Well
everything is going good besides learning the language. I am haveing a
difficult time. It's is so hard to pronounce some of the words here. I
always have a stopping point with people that I have conversations
with. But I just need to try to speak more.
This past week I went to two diffrent proffesional soccer clubs.
The first one was Cruziero which is a very popular team in my city.
Then I went to a team called Minas Gerias. Minas Gerias I thought was
a better program for me because the had better players
and they were cooler. So know I am almost breathing soccer. Somedays I
play twice a day. The players have a lot better touch and know the
game a lot better than I do. The only thing I have on them is that I
am the fastest one on the team. They players also say that I am too
physical sometimes. I think it is a good thing though. The team is
number one in their confrence right now. So I have to work my butt off
to be able to get to just even dress out with the team. I could go on
and on about how the players pretty much breath soccer here. The team
even has a siocologist that talks to the team twice a week. It is so
crazy. I am really having a good time with it.
Well this past weekend I went out with some friends to a resturant
friday night. Then saturday I went to watch a game of my team. It was
really cool. The team won 2-1 and I rode on the bus with them there
and back. On the way back I was trying to sleep but the team made me
wake up and start getting rowdy with them.(rowdy is when the whole
team sings, beats on everything like their drums and dances) It was a
lot of fun. Then that night I went out with the players to a club. The
players already treat me like I am part of the team. Well I miss
everybody and I hope life is treating the well.

Hey Everyone,
This is Tim and I was just e-mailing everyone to tell how I am
doing. The first week in Brazil went great. The kids are really nice
and already started inviting me to party's and diffrent things. Next
week I go with some of the students to a big concert in Belo Horizante.
Friday I played in my first soccer game with the students from my
school. It is kinda crazy how many kids have good touches on the ball
here. Friday night I went out with some of my host-brothers freinds
and chilled at a restaurant. Saturday night we went to a club that
played eighties
music. It was pretty fun but kinda crowded and smokey. No windows to
ventilate the place. The only thing that is difficult is learning the
language but I am getting better day by day. Well thats all that is
pretty much going on down here for me. I hope everybody is doing well.
Sincerely,
Tim |

smoothly on all the plane rides. It was awful staying in Sao Paulo for
thirteenn hours though. My family is very nice and they are making me
feel very welcome. Today was my first day of school and all the kids
were friendly and they are already inviteing me to extra activities
outside of school. Thihngs are diffrent here but I think I am going to
adjusted just fine and everybody is helping learn portoguese. I hope
everything is going well in Fayetteville.
