Last weekend, from February 1st to 3rd, we had
another Youth Exchange Students meeting. This time it was the
S.C.R.Y.E. seminar in Tulsa. There were about 185 students
from all over the southern part of the United States. I only knew
the Exchange Students I met before when we had the other meetings.
So it was awesome with so many new students and we all could make
new friends. Everybody arrived on friday afternoon at a hotel in
tulsa. There everybody was asigned to Rotary families who live in or
nearby Tulsa. I live with my Hostfamily just 20 minutes away and so
we hosted friday night 5 students. two from Brasil, France, Schweden,
and Columbia. When we came home we ate Piza and talked t he whole
evening and watched some movies. On Saturday all students from
District 6110 had to be back at the hotel at 11. There we had a
lunch and we got to know all the outbound students who will go to
other countries this summer. It was really fun, everybody told
something about him and we had some time to talk to everybody. At
2.30 all the other students came back and then Rotarians gave us
some instructions what we would do and how we are going to do it.
They also talked a bit about the upcoming summer trip in June. After
that we divided us in country groups and we practiced a presentation
about our countries which we would later present at the banquet. The
banquet started at 6 and after we had eaten everybody represented
his homecountry. It took a while, till we finished, but it was a lot
of fun. After that we took a busride to a gym in Sand Spring where
we would spend the night. We had a all-night-long disco; we danced
and talked, and celebrated. It was just awesome!!!! After this long
night we got breakfast in ther morning and were brought back to the
hotel where we were picked up by our hostfamilies. This weekend was
so much fun and I got to know so many new awesome people. It was
just too short to talk to everybody of the 185 students, but that
was fine. I hoped it would be longer though. When I came home on
Sundy I, of course, slept the whole day to recover from the long
night before. I just can say great, great weekend! |

The ski trip with Rotary in December was awesome. We
has so much fun in Breckenridge, Colorado. The only sad thing was
that it was way to short, I could have stayed there for another two
weeks. Well it was awesome though.
When we came home from the trip, there was the ice storm in Oklahoma
and we barely could drive home. My family and I were very lucky, we
had power the whole time, not like almost 80% in my town. The good
thing was that we were out of school for 3 days, because it didn`t
have power either. I had Alexandre, an exchange student, staying at
my house for a night, because he didn`t have power. It was great
I celebrated Christmas with my whole host family in Oklahoma City.
It was really good and I also called many of my relatives at home, I
thought it would be a good time for that. Right after Christmas I
got an opportunity to go to New Mexico and Colorado. We visited an
Indian village in New Mexico and did skiing and hiking in Colorado.
We had 5 awesome days!
Now, unfortunately, school has started again. But I really looking
forward to the SCRYE Seminar from February 1st to 3rd. It will be so
much fun to meet all the other exchange students.Flo |

The halloween party for all the exchange students
2007/2008 was just great!! We had so much fun dressing up and
talking to each other. I was really sad that I could not already
come on friday. We had a football game and my team needed me to
play. But I woke up very early on saturday morning to be at
Fayetteville as fast as possible. It was so awesome to see all the
exchange students again. We spend all the afternoon at somebody`s
hous and could play tennis, soccer, laying near the lake and looking
for deer in the woods! After that we dressed up for the Halloween
Party and met us at the place where we spent the night! Everybody
had a costume and we made hundreds of pictures....we also created
our own pumpcins! After a very short night, we travelled home on
sunday morning looking forward to our next meeting, the skitrip on
December 6-10. I want to say thank to everybody who helped to make
this weekend a unforgettable experience!!!! Flo

Last weekend
we had our first exchange student meeting in Arkansas. We did a
flagg parade and said `hello` to the Rotarians having a conference
at the same time. After that they told us all the rules of the
Rotary Youth Exchange. We also had a lock-in in a gym and were able
to get to know each other. It was a wonderful experience to meet
also these Exchange Students from all over the world.
I have improoved my English
extremely in the last weeks, since I`ve been here. You can really
see how it gets better and better and better. The first few days
were very difficult for me. I allways had to concentrate on the
thnings other people ask me. But know it is much more easier and I
don`t have to say `excuse me, what did you say` so often. And I
speak more and more, because it is fun to see your own improvement!
I play Footbal and Soccer in
school. Now it is Football season and we have at least one game a
week and also have practice every day. In Soccer we only practice,
because Soccer season is in Third trimester.
Sometimes I go to the German Club and have fun with the students
there. |
