Learn a great deal about yourself
Be a Youth Ambassador.

Exchange Student and Murial (65021 bytes)

This year, about 7,000 young people will see the world the way it is best seen - from the inside out - through Rotary's Youth Exchange program. This could be your year.

As a short term Rotary Youth Exchange student, you will spend three to four weeks living with a host family, and possibly touring for another week or two, in a country other than your own. You may learn some of a new language; you will experience a new way of living - and a great deal about yourself. But there's more. While you're busy learning, the people you meet will be learning too - about your country, your culture, and your ideas. You will be a young ambassador. You will be helping to bring the world closer together - and you'll be making some good friends in the process.

If you're ready for the challenge - and the rewards - of living in another land as an exchange student, then you're ready to discover new worlds through Rotary's Youth Exchange program.

Applications for the short term program are accepted from students between the ages of 14 and 22 (at time of arrival in the other country). Applicants are selected by a sponsoring Rotary Club on the basis of a written application and a personal interview.

Good Company

Young people from 66 countries each year see the world the way it is best seen - from the inside out - through Rotary's Youth Exchange program.

As a Rotary Exchange student, you may learn a new language, but you will certainly learn a new way of living - and a great deal about yourself. The people you meet will learn too - about your country, and your culture and ideas. As an unofficial ambassador you will bring the world closer together and make new friends in the process.

Sign Me Up!

Rotary's Short Term Youth Exchange Program is open to High School and College students from 14 to 22, the sons and daughters of Rotarians and non-Rotarians alike.

Applicants are interviewed by the sponsoring Rotary club on the basis of a written application.

Contact a member of your local Rotary club for assistance in submitting your application.

Personal interviews with both students and their parents are mandatory.

Interview Selection

Rotary Short Term Youth Exchange is for you if you are a high school or college student from 14 to 22 with an out-going, pleasant personality who has demonstrated above average academic achievement. Students must also be adaptable and flexible when adjusting to new and unanticipated situations that commonly arise when living in a different culture.

Short term applications are due and interviews are held at the local club level in the winter, for exchanges the following summer. Successful applicants are accepted on a first come basis for the limited number of exchange opportunities. So, you are encouraged to submit your application early. Participants travel for three to six weeks during these summer exchanges.

After I Return I Will...

Share my exchange experiences with family, friends, Rotary, school, church and my community.

The Exchange is Reciprocal

WE HOPE YOUR PARENTS WILL BE A HOST FAMILY WHICH WILL:

Broaden their understanding of the world
Build a now relationship
Promote international good will through your own family

Exchanges are open to many countries. You'll discover ours is a small world indeed and that there is much to be gained from each country, culture and family. Each has something unique to give to you and you to them.
