Worldwide Humanitarian Alliance with
Rotarians and Friends

WHARF is a coalition of Rotary Service Projects and Non Governmental Organizations (NGO) working together to increase the flow of Humanitarian Aid from North America to developing countries around the globe.

Wouldn't it be nice, if there was a shipment of medical supplies going to a developing country with some spare space on the container, while another aid group had some books, and we could combine the goods in one container at a much more reasonable cost than by doing it separately. MSNI ACTUALLY DID THIS LAST YEAR AND IT WAS BY ACCIDENT RATHER THAN BY DESIGN. WHARF's hope is to make more of these type of things happen by design.

WHARF is planning to network, via the internet, all of the Rotary Service Projects and NGOs in the USA and Canada that are shipping humanitarian aid world wide. There is no doubt that if these aid providers all

  • 1. knew that each other existed,
  • 2. understood each others strengths and weaknesses,
  • 3. knew which countries each organization shipped aid into, and by what carriers,
  • 4. knew what each group specialized in shipping, i.e.. food, clothing, educational supplies, medical supplies, fire fighting equip., etc., and
  • 5. had a means of contacting others for help, aid, or sharing of contacts.........

......we could collectively increase our individual efficiencies, avoid making the same mistakes, and ultimately save many more lives.

Many Rotarians and NGO participants believe that, if this organization is successful and replicated in the other giving areas of the world, within the next 10 years it will have a greater impact on the world than the Rotary International Polio Plus campaign, both in lives saved as well as humanitarian aid dollars sent to those in need. The main difference is most of the humanitarian aid is donated and we will not have to raise the $400,000,000 like Rotary did with Polio Plus.
